Samantha Garner

Mental Health & Wellbeing consultant

Growing up in deepest darkest Gloucestershire meant I was very lucky to have an Enid Blyton type childhood, I was also probably related to most of the town I lived in with 34 first cousins alone!

After a music degree I worked in recruitment, then project management, before moving into education, specifically Special Educational Needs and Mental health.

Professional Achievements

With regard to mental health and wellbeing, my main qualifications are as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, and a Counsellor, and I am continually adding to these in areas such as Third Wave Therapies and Life Coaching.

I’m also a fat confident middle aged woman, with depression and alopecia which gives me a lot of lived experience as well!

I am a published author having written a book about Mental Health in Education. There are more books to come, I just can’t find the time to write them at the moment but watch this space!

I’m currently on my second marriage (keeping him on his toes) and I have two daughters (ginger) and one step-son.

I regularly write for a variety of magazines, and blogs, as well as producing my own videos and podcasts. I am also a member of the South West Branch of The Association for Child and Adolescent Mental Health.

In my spare time I have an alter ego – Mrs Jones! I can be found occasionally performing around South Devon singing the best Soul & Motown from the 60s & 70s.

I am also a member of a local cricket club, but mostly I just like sitting and watching my husband (current) play, hoping he doesn’t get injured.
