Targeted Interventions

Are you finding helping students maintain their attendance an ongoing battle? Have you seen levels of student anxiety sky-rocket since we began “living with Covid”, post-lockdowns? Has the level of anger and poor behaviour/choices some students demonstrate increased? Do you have annual issues with students struggling with exam stress/anxiety? How about a regular flow of students showing signs of more general anxiety?

You’re not alone! These are common issues found in every school around the UK. The good news is that with my Targeted Intervention programmes you can have all of these issues covered – all at low cost and low resource (human and otherwise!)

How to use Targeted Interventions

DfE and NICE recommend the use of CBT with children and adolescents to help them improve and manage their own mental health. The great news is that you don’t have to be an expert to use CBT resources (like my Targeted Interventions, for example) to make radical improvements to student and school life!

We talk a lot about resilience in Education. Most frontline staff in Education know this isn’t just “toughening up”, but rather it’s about learning to recognise and manage our feelings and emotions, to allow us to be at our best. Having effective conversations with students to help them manage their own emotions is a very positive way of emotion coaching students.

My Targeted Interventions use proven, evidence based CBT principles and techniques to provide you with a programme of intervention for each area of difficulty. Effective intervention coupled with developing positive relationships with students gives students the tools they need to succeed whilst helping them to develop their distress-tolerance and resilience.

And all we have to do is talk to them!  Students can either work their way through the programme at their own speed (with oversight from a facilitator), or the faciltator can guide them through the conversations using Socratic questioning to develop awareness and positive action/change.

As in all things, practise make permanent – only perfect practise makes perfect. So, with my Targeted Interventions, with all of the planning done for you,  and the principles of CBT crafted in to a series of simple activities, perfect practise is at your fingertips!

What will I get?

You receive:

  • a facilitator workbook which contains a background to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and all of the information and tools you’ll need to facilitate or oversee the programme

  • contextual information to help with running the activities in the programme

  • a personal workbook which contains all of the programme activities, for students to complete either:
    • as you guide them through it (facilitator guided e.g. group/individual interventions), or
    • on their own at their own pace, with facilitator oversight as required
  • a license to use the Interventions in your single setting as many times, with as many young people enrolled in your setting as you want, with no ongoing costs (other than reprographics)

Testimonials

“…This is one of the best resources I’ve come across in my career. So useful for scaffolding a conversation and for planned intervention. Often the best tools we have are high quality resources utilised by those people that know a young person well. Relationships are key…”
